Nucleus DiverSus
for Research on Diversity and Sustainability

The Objectives of DiverSus

Nucleus Diversus' main objective is to conduct high quality  research in the areas of biodiversity, ecosystems
and sustainability
, in a context of social-relevant problems.

Particular objectives

• To generate original knowledge on those disciplines associated to ecology and sustainability, within an interdisciplinary framework.

• To create new theoretical frameworks and methodologies in order to facilitate the interface between physical, biological and social sciences around complex problems involving socio-environmental systems.

• To train human resources trough the practice of formal research and teaching activities.

 • To organize and to facilitate instances of analysis and synthesis on emerging topics of high relevance for their experience areas.

Operation
DiverSus is an International Nucleus, with headquarters at the Multidisciplinary Institute of Plant Biology (CONICET – National University of Cordoba).

"Nucleus" refers to a flexible and light both administrative and formal structure, in which the interaction between members are planned and structured on the basis of each particular project faced by the gropup under diferent circumstances.

It is composed by a permanent group of full time researchers as well as a more difuse group of associated collaborators who interact with the main group depending on each project or initiative.

This flexible structure allows the members to cooperate in different sub-groups according to the requirements of each particular project. These initiatives include long-term projects in a single study site -with strong collaboration both in space and time-, to short-time initiatives assesing emerging topics discussed in virtual forums.
